Geographical settlement and natural conditions of the place

     Skłudzewo is settled between Torun and Bydgoszcz, in the Zlawies Wielka borough, in the Kujavian-Pomeranian Voivodship. There are picturesque views spreading on the undulating terrain of the Vistula’s pravalley. There is a rich and varying stand in the park and surrounding woods. Eminent are various pontine species characteristic for the South-Eastern Europe and middle Asia. One of the most valuable is a species of Cypripedium calceolus. There are extremely good settling conditions in Skludzewo. Inside the fertile skludzewian ravine protected by winter cold and dry winds, in hot periods there is a humid atmosphere close to a greenhouse. On the dry and sunny slopes one can find various steppe species with the most valuable Stipa joannis. The natural conditions of the terrain bordering with the park were so good that in the times of the Teutonic Order there were grape plantations settled.
